Terms of Service

These Terms set out the conditions and procedures for using the spontaneous meetup matching service (the “Service”) provided by Mate Today (the “Company”), and the rights, obligations and responsibilities of the Company and its users.

User means a person who agrees to these Terms and uses the Service.

Meetup means an offline gathering that a User hosts or applies to join through the Service.

Host means the User who created a meetup, and Participant means a User whose application to that meetup has been approved.

Manner score means a trust indicator reflecting the ratings Users give each other after a meetup ends.

These Terms take effect when they are posted on the Service.

The Company may amend these Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law. When it does, it will state the effective date and the reason for the change and announce it on the Service at least 7 days before the effective date (30 days for changes unfavourable to Users).

A User who does not agree to the amended Terms may stop using the Service and close their account. Continuing to use the Service after the announced effective date is deemed agreement to the amendment.

Users may register with an email address or a supported social account, and must agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy when registering.

Users under 16 may use the Service only with the consent of a legal guardian. The Company requests consent by email from the legal guardian entered at registration, and use of the account is restricted until consent is confirmed. If consent is not confirmed within 7 days of registration, or the legal guardian refuses, the account and the information entered are deleted without delay. Users under 16 may register only with an email address.

An account may be used only by its owner and may not be transferred or lent to anyone else. Users are responsible for managing their account details, and the Company is not responsible for consequences of careless management.

Phone verification and ID (KYC) verification are optional; once completed, a verification badge appears on the profile. Verification is only reference information to help other Users decide whether to approve someone; it is not a guarantee by the Company of that User's identity or conduct.

In using the Service, Users must comply with the laws of the relevant country, and all civil, criminal and administrative liability arising from any violation rests entirely with the User concerned.

Users bear the same obligation in offline meetings with other Users they come to know through the Service. Checking and complying with the legal requirements that apply to the User personally — such as residence status, immigration, taxation and business licences — is the User's responsibility.

If a User's violation of the law results in the Company receiving a claim for damages, an administrative fine, a request to cooperate with an investigation or similar from a third party or a public authority, the Company may claim compensation from that User for the resulting loss.

The Company cooperates with lawful requests from investigative or supervisory authorities in accordance with the procedures prescribed by applicable law.

The Company only provides a platform that connects Users, and is not a party to any meetup. Whether a meetup takes place, and its schedule, venue, sharing of costs, conduct and outcome, are matters solely between the Users involved.

The Company does not guarantee the truthfulness, accuracy or lawfulness of profiles, meetup information or chat messages registered by Users, and is not liable for loss arising from reliance on them.

Meeting in person may involve physical or financial risk. Users must be aware of this and take part at their own judgement and responsibility, and are encouraged to look after their own safety, for example by meeting in public places and telling someone they know about their plans.

Disputes between Users must be resolved between the parties. The Company has no obligation to intervene, but may cooperate within a reasonable scope where necessary, for example by providing records to help resolve the dispute.

Rights in and responsibility for meetup information, profiles, chat messages and other content written by a User belong to its author.

The Company may use such content to the extent necessary to operate and improve the Service and to handle disputes.

Chat messages are retained for the period set out in the Privacy Policy for dispute handling and compliance with legal obligations. Blocking another User does not delete existing records; it only stops them from being displayed.

Users may report violations by other Users. From the time a report is received, the Company may restrict the reported account's visibility or use to the extent necessary.

Depending on the seriousness of a violation and whether it is repeated, the Company may issue a warning, restrict features, suspend the account temporarily or suspend it permanently.

Users may object to a measure, and the Company will notify them of the outcome of its review within a reasonable period from the date the objection is received.

Repeatedly filing false reports is also subject to sanctions.

The Company may change the Service or stop providing all or part of it, and will announce this in advance. Where there is an unavoidable cause, such as a system failure, the announcement may be made afterwards.

The Service is provided free of charge. If the Company introduces paid features in the future, it will announce their details and conditions in advance.

Users may request to close their account within the Service at any time.

When an account is closed, the profile and manner score are deleted. However, report history and chat logs are retained for the period stated in the Privacy Policy for dispute handling and compliance with legal obligations.

Re-registering after closing an account in order to avoid sanctions may be restricted.

The Company is not liable where it cannot provide the Service due to causes beyond its reasonable control, such as natural disasters, war or telecommunications network failures.

The Company is not liable for disruption to, or loss from, use of the Service caused by the User's own fault.

This Article does not apply to loss caused by the Company's intent or gross negligence, or to liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

These Terms and the use of the Service are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. However, where mandatory provisions of the law of the User's habitual residence give the User more favourable protection, those provisions prevail.

Disputes between the Company and a User are in principle to be resolved through mutual consultation; if consultation fails, a claim may be brought before the competent court.

These Terms take effect on September 8, 2026.
